After twenty-one years at the Knoxville Chamber, Mark Field, Senior Vice President of Investor Development and Experience, has made the decision to retire at the end of this year.
“It has been an amazing adventure and honor that is marked by so many wonderful memories and experiences serving our thriving business community,” said Field. He went on to thank the longtime investors in the Chamber along with the Chamber team. “I especially want to thank the community for all the worthwhile discussions and for your investment in our great Chamber and our region. It has been a pleasure to work alongside our hardworking and dedicated team who love Knoxville and Knox County and serve as models of professionalism. They have been a constant source of inspiration and energy for me.”
Mark has served the Knoxville Chamber since 2004, leading the development, relations, events, marketing, and communication efforts.
“Mark has dedicated over two decades to the chamber and our mission. The organization, the business community, and the region as a whole are better for it,” said Mike Odom, Knoxville Chamber President and CEO. “We will sincerely miss him, but we are excited for him as he transitions into this next stage of his life.”
Amanda O’Dell, current Director of Investor Experience, will assume the role of vice president of the department after Field’s retirement.
“Amanda has proven to be an outstanding operator, strategist, and leader,” added Odom. “We have the utmost confidence that she will continue to bring that level of excellence in her new role and feel fortunate to have her on our team.”
“Mark leaves behind an inspirational legacy. I look forward to embracing the future with the same passion and dedication that has defined his tenure,” said O’Dell.
Field established a significant footprint among chamber executives, having provided crucial support to both the statewide Tennessee Chamber of Commerce Executives and the global Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. He is considered an expert in mission-mindedness and development in the Chamber industry and is frequently asked to consult.
Mark was previously the vice president of development for The Initial Group and has over forty years of experience in sales and marketing management.
Mark has also been a steadfast pillar of the community, serving in other capacities, including as past board chair for Legacy Parks and the East Tennessee Mental Health Association, current board member of Tennessee Valley Fair, and a member of the board of trustees for the U.S. Chamber Institute. Mark was a 2011 graduate of Leadership Knoxville.
“As this part of my journey ends, I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life that includes spending more time with my wife, family, and friends,” added Field. “Volunteering and staying active in our community will also be a part of the plan. Again, thank you all for your support, counsel, trust, and friendship over the years. It has truly been my pleasure!”
