MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Pasig mayoral aspirant Sarah Discaya on Monday shrugged off Mayor Vico Sotto’s appeal to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to disqualify her.

Discaya’s legal counsel Atty. Raymund Mendoza was asked for his comment after Sotto submitted a formal letter to the Comelec questioning Discaya’s alleged ties to a firm that had a joint venture with Miru Systems Co. Ltd.

Mendoza also said they have yet to receive any letter from the Comelec so far about the matter.

Sotto said Discaya is an owner and chief financial officer of St Gerrard Construction General Contractor and Development Corporation, which, he claimed, is an “alter-ego” of St. Timothy Construction Corporation.

St Timothy, Sotto said, is among the joint venture partners of Miru Systems Co. Ltd., which is contracted to price the automated election system for the 2025 polls.

St. Timothy Construction Corporation withdrew from the Miru Joint Venture earlier this month.
