Back our huge 183/1 each-way double for this week’s golf here! | FST

Golfing insomniacs will be rejoicing this week because both the PGA and DP World Tours are heading to the Far East for tournaments in Japan and South Korea which begin on Wednesday evening UK and Ireland time.

The PGA Tour action comes via the Zozo Championship at Narashino Country Club in Inzai, Japan, while the final tournament of the DPWT regular season, the Genesis Championship, will take place at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon, Korea.

Racing & Football Outlook golf tipster Joe Champion has taken a look at both events to put together an each-way double which pays out at 183/1.

Zozo Championship winner prediction – Collin Morikawa at 7/1

The Zozo Championship has lost some of its lustre with the creation of the Fall Series but the PGA Tour’s only Asia gathering has attracted a stellar trio in the shape of Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama.

Schauffele has had a magnificent season and Matsuyama waltzed his way to this title in 2021, winning by five shots, but both could have to play second fiddle to Morikawa, who won by six strokes last year and looks poised to mount a successful defence.

The 27-year-old, whose father is Japanese, has not claimed a title since winning this in 2023 but he’s been a consistent PGA Tour contender over the last six months and fired the lowest 72-hole score at the Tour Championship in his last start.

Morikawa went 4-1 at the Presidents Cup last month, striking his irons with customary zest, and he’s shown on numerous occasions that he knows how to prepare himself after a break. Narashino, a tree-lined track where accurate iron-play is vital to success, is an ideal fit.

Genesis Championship winner prediction – Yannik Paul at 22/1

The DP World Tour’s last visit to South Korea came with the 2023 Korea Championship at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club but that one-off event, won by Pablo Larrazabal, has been absorbed by the Korean Tour’s Genesis Championship.

This co-sanctioned event features 90 DPWT players and 30 members of the Korean Tour. It takes place at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club which, as the title suggests, is one of the Golden Bear’s many global designs.

Two US-based Korean stars dominate the market but Tom Kim disappointed when fancied for the Shriners Children’s Open last week, missing the cut, while Byeong Hun An’s form has dipped in recent months.

This field lacks depth so it could pay to focus on those who are sitting just below the top two in the market starting with Yannik Paul, who was a runner-up at the French Open a fortnight ago.

Jack Nicklaus GC is a tough track when the wind blows but the fairways are wide so the onus is on accurate approaches and Paul, who ranks fifth in greens hit in regulation on the DPWT this season, should be well suited to the venue.

Last week’s missed cut could prove a blessing in disguise for the German, who has been busy over the last couple of months.
