East Tennessee REALTORS® has added Maria McHale as governmental affairs and policy director, continuing the association’s decades-long work to support a vibrant local and regional business environment through advocacy.
Founded in 1912, East Tennessee REALTORS® has been serving the real estate interests of its members and the public for more than 100 years. The association comprises 12 counties in the region: Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Cumberland, Fentress, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott and Union.
McHale will lead the development and execution of the association’s government relations strategy and serve as key policy advisor to leadership and the board of directors.
“With more than 6,000 members across 12 counties, it’s a priority for us to promote, protect and advance our profession by ensuring Realtors have a voice in government,” East Tennessee REALTORS®CEO Lyle Irish said. “Maria’s experience in community advocacy, strategy and communications will serve our members well as we navigate our region’s evolving market.”
McHale has more than 10 years of experience in strategy, marketing, storytelling and community relations. In her most recent role, she served as the director of communications at MoxCar Marketing + Communications. Her experience includes branding, communications, crisis strategy and executive training for clients in industries such as healthcare, telecommunications, nonprofit and hospitality, along with international corporate social responsibility and SEC compliance for retail supply chains.
Passionate about supporting community organizations, McHale serves on the boards of directors of the YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley and the Knoxville AAPI Business Association, and is a member of H3 at the East Tennessee Historical Society, Knox Heritage and Art House at the Knoxville Museum of Art.
