A rock slide has closed Highway 7 near Hope, downing hydro lines and disrupting a school bus route.
The rock slide occurred Thursday night west of the Haig scale, said Drive B.C., forcing the closure of an eight-kilometre stretch of the highway overnight.
On Friday, crews assessed the damage, which included “significant pavement damage” and broken hydro poles. Photos taken at the scene show rocks, boulders and debris scattered across the road.
No injuries have been reported and no vehicles were caught in the slide, said the B.C. Transportation Ministry.
The highway has been blocked between Seventh-day Adventist Youth Camp Road that leads to Camp Hope and Ross Road. Drivers are asked to take Highway 1 instead.
