Ludvig resigns as Storm head coach, returns to Czechia due to personal reasons

“The Kamloops Storm organization would like to thank Jan and family for their contributions, they have been instrumental in helping the organization take another step forward. They are good people, and we wish them the best,” Matt Kolle, Storm general manager and owner says.

Ludvig took over as the Storm’s head coach ahead of the 2022-23 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) season. The Storm fell to the Sicamous Eagles in seven games in the first round of the playoffs in 2023. They beat the Eagles in six games in the first round in 2024 before being swept by the Revelstoke Grizzlies.

In response to Ludvig’s departure, the Storm promoted assistant coach Andrew Fisher to head coach for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

“Andrew has been with the team for seven seasons now and knows the Kamloops Storm organization inside and out. Andrew has paid his dues and understands the team vision. He is ready to take the next step,” Kolle adds.

The Storm are 9-8-1-0 in the 2024-25 KIJHL season, good for 19 points in 18 games. They are second in the Doug Birks Division, only behind the leading 100 Mile House Wranglers by two [points with a game in hand.

The Storm carry on Friday (Nov. 15) when they welcome the Sicamous Eagles to McArthur Park Arena. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
