Did Daniel Jones tell his teammates he doesn’t vote? Debunking viral myth on Giants QB

Tuesday was a massively busy day for every team, player, coach and executive in the NFL as it wasn’t only the trade deadline day but also Election Day in the United States. While most stars were busy preparing for Week 10 before performing their civic duty, a report suggested that New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones wasn’t interested in voting and was discouraging his teammates from doing it.

Wesley Steinberg on X posted a conversation supposedly involving the 27-year-old signal-caller and rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers about Election Day. The account posted on X:

#Giants QB Daniel Jones told his teammates that he doesn’t vote. Malik Nabers turned around and said so your decision making is just as bad off the field too. Everyone laughed, great moment.”

The post went viral and has over three million views on the social media platform. However, it’s not true. Wesley Steinberg is an infamous parody account that often reports fake trades and free agency news to farm engagement.

Daniel Jones stats: QB’s rough campaign so far

The joke possibly went viral on social media because there’s a semblance of truth to it. Daniel Jones has had a rough campaign so far. Through nine games, the quarterback has 1,880 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns, five interceptions, 239 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown. He’s yet to have a game with over 300 passing yards this season.

In the Giants‘ loss to the Washington Commanders at home on Sunday, he finished with 174 passing yards and two touchdown passes. His first in the second quarter ended his 672-day wait for a touchdown pass at MetLife Stadium.

Sunday’s loss saw them slip to 2-7, virtually ending their hopes of earning a playoff berth. Jones and everyone inside the Giants’ building are reportedly on the hot seat.

The Giants could end the 2024 season with fewer wins than they had last season(6-11), which will likely force a few people, including Jones potentially, to find a new team. It’s been a horrendous season for the Giants and there are only halfway through it.
