An Industrial Space in Taiwan Finds New Life as a Dynamic Workspace | Yatzer

Having to contend with a compact footprint, Guudpin Design left the office layout intentionally open, introducing cubic forms to define functional areas such as workstations. Along with a freestanding bookcase that doubles as a partition wall, these workspace enclosures are punctuated with thoughtfully placed openings, allowing light and sightlines to flow freely. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow the natural light to flood the space, which when necessary, is softly filtered, thanks to ย white gauze curtains. Mirrors cladding a structural column in the middle of the space further enhance the dynamic play of light and views, allowing the column to seemingly dissolve into the surroundings.

Polished cement flooring and smoothly plastered walls soften the rugged texture of the exposed concrete structure, while the use of metallic elements such as counters, tables, and stools serve to create a dialogue between the industrial and contemporary aesthetic. Starkly minimal in form, these furnishings are complemented by similar designs in wood and marble accentuating the schemeโ€™s refined, modern aesthetic. In conjunction with the open layout and the seamless flow of light and views, the juxtaposition of materials creates an environment that feels untethered and flexible, perfectly suited to the creative pursuits of its occupants.
