Toronto man faces charges over threats to Orléans clinic

An 18-year-old Toronto man faces a long list of charges allegedly threatening violence at an Orléans health clinic last month.

Police were called to a medical clinic in the 1200 block of Place D’Orléans Boulevard due to a report of threats of violence.

“The clinic took the threats very seriously and closed, sending all staff home.” police said in a release.

The clinic closed and was opened the following day with added security measures. Over the next week, the clinic received more than 300 threats by email or fax.

Police identified the suspect on Nov. 8, with assistance from the Toronto Police Service. The man was arrested, and a search warrant was executed at his residence.

The man has been charged with:

  • Uttering threats
  • Harassment by threatening conduct
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Mischief Over $5000
  • Attempted fraud
  • Uttering a forged document

He remains in custody and was to appear in court Thursday.

Police said the investigation is continuing and asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the east criminal investigation section at 613-236-1222, ext 3566.
