Google has announced four new features for its Chrome web browser for iOS devices. The most notable addition is an update to Google Lens that lets users search using a combination of typed text and an image.
To use the new feature, tap the Google Lens icon in Chrome’s search bar, add an image, and follow up with a textual query. Search will provide relevant responses, sometimes with AI Overviews. This update lets you “perform more complex and specific searches,” Google says. The multi-modal Google Lens search function is also available in the Google app on iOS.
Chrome users can now download web content directly into Google Drive and Google Photos. This can free up space on the device and make it easier to transfer something you like from your device to the Drive.
To save a document, download it and pick Google Drive as the destination folder. To do the same for photos, tap and hold the image and select “Save in Google Photos” from the pop-up. Items downloaded from the web will appear in the “Saved from Chrome” folder in Google Drive.

US users will get a “Good Deal Now” notification if Chrome has Shopping Insights for a product they’re looking into. The notification will appear on the top left of the address bar. Opening it will provide key details like price history, price tracking, and other buying options. To use this feature, enable the “Make Searches and Browsing Better” function in Chrome’s Settings.

Google is also testing a feature that lets you navigate maps within the browser. Soon, tapping a linked address will open up a mini-map of the location. Google plans to roll out the feature globally soon.
