Tactical FPS Delta Force boots out bots in its Battlefield style Warfare mode

It’s already generated plenty of interest through its various alphas and betas and its no-nonsense approach to pay-to-win monetization, but free-to-play tactical FPS Delta Force is gearing up for its biggest moment yet. With a huge open beta on the horizon, it has today revealed some encouraging news about its plans for delivering new content to the game. It’s also confirmed a highly-requested change is being made to its Battlefield-esque Warfare mode – that’s right, the bots are gone.

The launch of Delta Force’s fully-open, early access beta is less than a month away, and in the build up the folks at Team Jade are putting on weekly livestreams full of developer insight and announcements. Its most recent stream focuses on Warfare, the large-scale, attackers-versus-defenders mode that strikes a very similar note to the Battlefield series. Big squads, vehicles everywhere, objectives to capture – you know the vibe. Those that have already played the FPS game during its limited-time alphas and betas have been full of praise for the Warfare experience, but the inclusion of bots to fill out lobbies was a major fly in the ointment.

However, Team Jade has just confirmed that when the Delta Force release date arrives, there will no longer be any AI-controlled bots in multiplayer Warfare modes – it will be real players only. This is one of the most-requested changes across the entire Delta Force experience (which also includes an extraction mode) so it’s great to see it implemented.

For those that want to learn the ropes, practice with new weapons or vehicles, or simply want more of a PvE experience, Team Jade says there will still be a version of Warfare that lets you play against bots. You can also form a squad with a few of your friends for this mode as well.

Delta Force has really impressed so far with its tactical milsim gameplay, but that’s all for nothing if you haven’t got a strong lineup of fun, varied maps to play on. Thankfully, there will be five Warfare maps ready and waiting for you when the open beta goes live, and as part of its future content commitment (more on that in a moment) a new Warfare map will arrive in every major update. However, for its first post-launch update, Team Jade says a double dose of new maps will arrive – from then on out it will just be the one, though.

Within this lineup of launch Warfare maps is Cracked, which FPS fans of a certain vintage may remember from 2003’s Delta Force Black Hawk Down. This has been recreated for the new Delta Force after the development team spent weeks playing each other in the original version. Trench Lines is another map inspired by the old Delta Force games and, as the name suggests, provides trench combat experience.

As mentioned, the developer also during this stream affirmed its post-launch content plans. It says “promises” to deliver a new major update every three months, and within each major update will be one new playable operator, one new Warfare map, and a variety of fresh weaponry, vehicles, and spin off game modes.

Team Jade is also committing to one entirely new Warfare mode every year. With the launch iteration of Warfare playing a lot like the Rush mode from Battlefield, these new modes will likely add in some of the other large-scale experiences the series and other FPS rivals have to offer. Or maybe Team Jade will be able to cook up something totally unique for a real surprise.

Delta Force’s open beta goes live on Thursday, December 5 and will be totally free to play.

Until then, why not take a look at some of the amazing multiplayer games and free PC games already out there.
