Ocean Park has shared expert tips on distinguishing pandas, as many people struggle to tell giant pandas apart.
”Although giant pandas look very similar, if you look closely, their eye patches and the shapes of their ‘vests’ are unique,” it said on a Facebook post yesterday.
The park said 19-year-old Ying Ying, who gave birth to the first Hong Kong-born pigeon pair of giant panda cubs in August, has a deep V pattern on her back and an 8-shaped eye patch, while the father of the cubs, Le Le, has a round neck shape on the back as well as more rounded eye patches.
As for the two giant pandas gifted by the central government to the SAR in September, the park said An An has a trapezoid vest and gourd-shaped eye patches, while Ke Ke has soap-shaped eye patches with a butterfly-shaped vest on the back.
Ocean Park said it will also teach Hongkongers how to distinguish the two giant panda cubs in upcoming posts.
