The commercialization of KLING AI has made phased progress, with revenue possibly reaching tens of millions and internal team celebrations. It is currently uncertain whether the main source of income for KLING AI comes from consumers or APIs.
KLING AI is a large-scale video generation model developed by the Large Model Team at Kuaishou. KLING AI supports functions such as AI videos and AI images, allowing users to generate their desired images and video content through text descriptions. According to Kuaishou data, since its release in June 2024, KLING AI has attracted over 3.6 million users, generating a total of 37 million videos and over one billion images. According to Zpedia data, KLING AI had 1.48 million monthly visits in September, showing a significant decline from August.
However, the revenue of KLING AI may not be able to cover the cost of computing power. Video generation models may be more costly in terms of training and inference compared to large language models. For example, the computational power required for training and inference of the Sora model is 4.5 times that of GPT-4 and nearly 400 times.
At a previous performance meeting at Kuaishou, Kuaishou CEO Cheng Yixiao once stated that KLING AI strives to achieve a substantial commercialization scale as soon as possible. At the same time, Kuaishou is actively exploring more combinations of AI with existing video scenarios. Based on the construction of large-scale models KwaiYii, video and live script generation, advertising lead customer service combined with digital human technology help commercial advertisers generate high-quality videos and live content at low cost. In the first half of this year, nearly 20,000 merchants have achieved intelligent operations through Kuaishouโs large-scale models, with AIGC marketing materials consuming an average daily amount reaching 20 million in June.
