The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 3 Review: Just Fans

The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 3 veered away from their usual roles in this episode.

Robyn hung back while Harry took the lead, going undercover.

We don’t see this often, and it made for an exciting episode!

It appears it will be a while before the team reassemble — if they plan to do so at all.

In the meantime, as we wait to see what Mel and Marcus plan to do, Robyn and Harry are doing just fine holding down the fort on their own.

The duo is really killing it, minus The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 1, when Robyn was left to her own devices.

The Case Of A Missing Content Creator

A social worker and mom by the name of Lilly Evans has gone missing.

Harry helps track Lilly’s phone to a halfway house. Instead of hanging back, Harry tells Robyn he’s her Huckleberry and hits the streets to do some investigative work.

The pair find Lilly’s phone and a disturbing video of Lilly looking terrified.

I knew we were in for a great episode from the start, with the opening scene of Lilly shackled to the floor while wearing a beautiful gown and crying.

Lilly is leading a double life and has an online persona. It looks like she has gotten way over her head.

Harry tells Robyn he’ll go undercover to learn about the content company Lilly is associated with.

Harry Goes Undercover As The Shredder

Harry looks dapper in jeans, boots, and a guitar when he arrives to play the part of a content creator.

We never see Harry like this! It’s exciting to see him break away from his regular routine.

It’s also hilarious to see him pretend to be an online personality, considering he faked his death with Robyn’s help.

He manages to steal several files from the company on his zip drive before ducking out with what Robyn and he need to track down Lilly.

Harry and Robyn think they have their possible suspect, but after Robyn pulls the man in for a talk, they realize he isn’t the person who has kidnapped Lilly.

Robyn and Harry return to the drawing board and realize that the content company might be selling their models after discovering another model went missing months prior.

Harry returns to the content company and further confirms himself a badass when he threatens the CEO and questions her financial records.

Robyn Gets Her Man But Not Without A Fight

Harry manages to track down their newest suspect, and after some leg work, it’s clear he has Lilly and another model named Sarah.

Robyn tracks down Lilly and Sarah. I was sure this case was closed, but it didn’t end easily after Sarah pulled a gun on her.

I always enjoy a good Robyn McCall pep talk, and that is what we got. She talked Sarah into putting down the gun.

The Worst Wing Woman Ever

Aunt Viola always makes a brief appearance, and this episode was no different.

She attended a meeting for a new outreach program and nearly exposed Robyn when an officer commented about vigilantes and wanna be’s like The Equalizer.

Luckily, Aunt Viola’s friend stopped her from defending Robyn publicly, before calling her the worst wing woman ever!

The officer seems very interested in Aunt Viola by the show’s close. Could this be a new relationship in the making?

Mel Takes The Next Step In Her Mental Health Journey

Mel has decided to go to therapy to deal with her PTSD and anxiety.

And while Robyn and Harry have been busy working their case, Mel spends more time with Delilah as they deal with their traumas together.

Delilah and Mel’s friendship is cute, but it’s unusual that they are closer than Mel and Robyn. Does anyone else think so?

We’ve yet to see Mel and Robyn spend time together or speak much since the start of this season.

Mel learns that she needs an outlet. She plans to try her hand at some songwriting to see if it can help.

Is Marcus Finally Ready To Come Home?

Marcus appeared in this episode a few times, but his screen time was brief as he is still in LA working his new job.

He’s rightfully stressed over his boys now that he isn’t seeing them.

While Robyn reiterates that what he is doing is life-changing, that doesn’t seem to be enough for him anymore.

Now that he is missing Robyn and his sons, he may finally be on the fence about whether or not his move to the West Coast was a good idea.

We are three episodes into this season, and it’s clear the writer’s room will make his return more drawn out than I initially thought.

Are you ready for Marcus to return to New York? And what about Mel? How long will it take before she returns to the team?

Will we hear anything more about Aunt Viola’s health scare? Will she be able to hide Robyn’s true identity from her new love interest?
