FAIRFIELD, CT — A gift boutique and a national calzone shop with late-night hours are two new businesses that recently opened in Fairfield. Both held ribbon-cuttings last month.
The Give Collective, at 1300 Post Road, was founded by owner Laura Loffredo, who started the shop for two reasons: “to provide a ‘go-to’ gift boutique for people looking for the perfect gift for any occasion and to help support and raise awareness for local non-profits.”
Loffredo is also the founder of a local non-profit called the Adoption Hope Foundation, and she knows how difficult it can be for non-profits to find funding.
“I wanted to create a company where a portion of the proceeds could be donated to organizations that are helping to better our community,” Loffredo said in a statement. “There are so many wonderful, small non-profits in Fairfield and the surrounding towns that are working so hard to do good. Each month, we select a different organization to support and donate 10% of our proceeds to. We also hold ‘Shop and Support’ nights and coffee hours, if any organization would like to host one to benefit their cause.”
The Give Collective is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Private shopping events are available on Tuesday morning or Wednesday evenings.

The second local business that recently held a grand opening is D.P. Dough, at 222 Post Road, which serves fresh baked calzones and other tasty baked treats. D.P. Dough has locations around the country, primarily near college campuses, to focus mainly on college students and their late-night cravings because of their late-night hours on weekends.
In addition to Fairfield with its two universities, Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University, D.P. Dough also has a location in Storrs, near the University of Connecticut.
“My business partner and I set out to not only focus on the amazing college students attending Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University, but also to provide quality food to the loyal residents, families and employees of Fairfield and Fairfield County including the neighboring areas of Black Rock, Bridgeport, Easton, Trumbull and Westport,” said Jason, one of the owners, in a statement. “The support so far has been absolutely amazing!”
The business partners both moved to Fairfield over 15 years ago and are currently “raising families, coaching sports, and now providing delicious meals in the local community,” Jason added.
“We both love Fairfield and have really enjoyed having the opportunity to get to know even more residents, employees and students over the last few weeks!”
D.P. Dough is open Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Friday & Saturday 4 p.m. to 3 a.m.; and Sundays 12 p.m. to 1 a.m.
