Edge of Night

This was a daytime soap opera that ran from the mid 50s to 1984 and ran on two different networks and is one of few American soaps to be syndicated after being cancelled. The last couple of years of the show were run on the USA Network in a primetime slot for a few years. The show was extremely well written and it's notable that this is a soap that had more than a 50% male audience. While the show had the typical love triangles and romance plots it's main focus was on a police force, lawyers and their families. It had a heavy police procedural theme as many plots were about solving crimes, there were gangsters, bad cops and murders and various other crimes that needed solving. The show also had a larger male cast than other soaps at the time.

I had first heard this show a long time ago but was never able to see it until 2006 when AOL used to have a small streaming service it was called In2TV then AOL video, there was a small section of soap opera shows on their that had been long cancelled and this was one of them and ended up binging through the episodes they had. They had over 200 episodes on their by the time the streaming service was shut down. They would upload a certain amount of episodes at a time every couple of weeks. This show was given an Edgar award by the mystery writers of America.
