The Manchester United superstars that Ruben Amorim is looking to move on from Old Trafford – Soccer News

With it officially confirmed on Friday afternoon that Ruben Amorim will take charge at Old Trafford on November 11th, Manchester United’s new boss must make an immediate impact.

Slumping to what was a controversial 2-1 loss away at West Ham last weekend, that result was enough to cost Erik ten Hag his job in the red half of Manchester.

With the former Ajax boss finally watching his two-season reign come to an end, United are scrapping it out in the bottom-half of the Premier League table and have broken a string of unwanted records this season.

With ten Hag spending over £550million since his arrival at Old Trafford back in April 2022, it appears that Amorim faces another squad overhaul with the Premier League giants.

Watching will officially take the reins over next week, we have taken a look at some of the Manchester United superstars that the 41-year-old could be looking to move on immediately.

Antony

While Antony might have made it abundantly clear over the summer that he had no interest in leaving Old Trafford, it appears that the Brazilian misfit will be pushed out of the Manchester exit following Amorim’s arrival.

Suffering an ankle injury follow a brief second-half cameo appearance against Fenerbahce last week, the former Ajax starlet has drastically struggled to live up to his lofty £82million price tag and it is almost impossible to see a route back for the 16-cap international.

With many around Old Trafford left stunned by the record-breaking fee that United were willing to pay in the summer of 2022, Antony has quickly become a figure of ridicule.

Only managing to get 28 minutes of Premier League action under his belt from United’s first nine appearances this season, the 24-year-old should be desperately seeking an end to his Old Trafford nightmare.

With it suggested that Amorim is keen on bringing ex-Tottenham youngster Marcos Edwards back to England, reports have already emerged that the Portuguese tactician has no interest in giving Antony another chance.

Casemiro

Although there might have been plenty of excitement around Old Trafford following Casemiro’s Premier League arrival two years ago, the former Real Madrid icon has failed to find his feet among England’s elite and has often struggled with the intensity.

While the five-time Champions League winner might have remarkably notched a trio of goals in his back-to-back appearances over the past week, Casemiro has come under plenty of scrutiny continuing on from last season.

Despite forging a way back into ten Hag’s starting XI over the past month, the 32-year-old will certainly be sweating over his long-term future at Old Trafford following Amorim’s imminent arrival.

Reportedly earning in the region of £350,000-per-week in the red half of Manchester and with his current contract set to expire until the summer of 2026, Amorim could be looking to get the Brazilian’s jaw-dropping wages off of their books.

With Amorim gaining a reputation for his willingness to introduce more youngsters and take his squads in a more high-intensity direction, Casemiro’s days at Old Trafford could be numbered.

Christian Eriksen

While it might appear that Casemiro might be one of the early victims of Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford, the Brazilian is not the only midfield ace who has major question marks hanging over his future in the red half of Manchester.

Missing United’s EFL Cup victory against Leicester earlier in the week after picking up a knock, it appears almost inevitable that Christian Eriksen will allowed to leave over the coming months.

With the Danish playmaker watching his current deal at Old Trafford expire at the end of the season, there are no signs of an extension being offered to the former Tottenham star and both parties have accepted that a move away is best.

Despite being a regular part of ten Hag’s first-team plans on either side of October’s international break, the 32-year-old has is not expected to be part of Amorim’s revival plan.

Only recording a pair of Premier League goals since arriving at Old Trafford on a free transfer back in the summer of 2022, Amorim is already planning for life after Eriksen.
