The Gran Parque La Plancha stands out for its great Security – The Yucatan Times

With the support of 130 cameras, members of the National Guard (GN) are responsible for security 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the Gran Parque La Plancha, which has a high influx of visitors.

The park administrator, Air Force Colonel José Arnulfo Escamilla Novelo, said that although most people visit the site for recreation, there are people who come to exercise and jog in the surroundings in the early hours of the morning.

He specified that the instruction that the GN members have is to be in proximity to society, it is not intended to intimidate anyone, the uniform they wear is one of proximity, social contact, help, and support to visitors since they are responsible for the safety of the people who visit the place.

“At five in the morning, we have many foreign residents walking their pets inside the park. People who live nearby also come and use the park to exercise, from very early on. The park’s hours of activity are from seven in the morning to eleven at night, but outside of those hours people can walk around this site,” said Colonel Escamilla Novelo.

The restrooms are part of the services they offer, but if you want to use them at 11 at night they are closed; but if you want to walk around the interior of the place you can do so, it is always open. Even on weekends you can see people at 12 at night, as well as between one or two in the morning.

“We have more than two thousand lights, the park is illuminated throughout the night because we know that it is an attraction for people, many come to walk, to see it and to enjoy the facilities, and they also have the security that the National Guard watches over it 24 hours a day,” he said.

He added that they have 130 video surveillance cameras that monitor the interior of the park; in addition, they are working with the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) to link these cameras to the state C5, a task in which they have made considerable progress.

“The connection with the SSP is to increase the security of visitors, their objects, and mainly vehicles, which are parked on the periphery of the park,” he added.

Finally, the military commander recalled that on November 19th the first anniversary of the Gran Parque La Plancha will be celebrated, and, apparently, from the 15th the celebrations will begin. He announced that they plan to bring a national artist for the enjoyment of the attendees.
