LARKSPUR, CA — Retired Col. Luke R. Donohue will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Veterans Day ceremony at the Marin County Fairgrounds, the county announced Thursday.

Donohue, a Larkspur resident, began a 33-year Army career in 1989, serving leadership roles with Special Forces, Rangers, and infantry units during several major operations around the world. According to the county, his post-Army career included roles at the American Institute in Taiwan, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the U.S. Army War College, and he currently serves as the director of administration at the Presidio Trust.

Donohue will be joined by Sean Stephens, Marin County’s Veterans Services Officer, who will serve as the master of ceremonies. The music program will feature Marin County a capella group Til’ Dawn and a 30-minute concert of patriotic tunes from the Las Gallinas Valley Sanitary District Non-Marching Band.

After a closing prayer, attendees are invited to enjoy free coffee and donuts while checking out vintage military vehicles.

There are an estimated 8,000 military veterans who call Marin County home.
