Ridge Meadows RCMP nab Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice
Police in Maple Ridge have captured a tricky suspect who goes by the alias “Betelgeuse.”
Photos of “Beetlejuice’s” staged “arrest” were distributed to media on Thursday, as a lighthearted way to remind the public about Halloween safety.

“We are prepared to handle any disruptions on Halloween, natural or supernatural,” said Const. Tisha Parsons of the Ridge Meadows RCMP.
“We encourage everyone to make smart choices and keep Halloween fun, spooky and safe.”
Parents are reminded to plan out their trick-or-treat routes, to ensure kids are sticking to well-hit areas, and to make sure costumes are easy to spot in the dark.
Those who need help can say “Beetlejuice” three times or call 911 once to summon police.
Surrey police seize drugs, cash in drug trafficking probe
Surrey RCMP executed two search warrants this month as part of an investigation into a dial-a-dope operation.
In March 2024, a member of the public tipped off police to a phone line that was allegedly offering drugs for sale in Surrey. Police launched an investigation and were able to identify three suspects who were later arrested.
As part of the investigation, police also searched two properties in Surrey. During the raid, police seized 4 oz. of suspected fentanyl, 2.5 oz. of suspected cocaine, 1.5 oz. of suspected methamphetamine, as well as $5,585 in cash and two cellphones.
Police expect to recommend charges shortly.
“If you suspect a person is selling drugs, or a residence is being used for drug trafficking, call your local police,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha with the Surrey RCMP.
“Any amount of information could be crucial to police to identify the suspects and obtain evidence that would bring them to court. Our community members are our eyes and ears and play a significant role in keeping the city safe.”
