Veteran comic Aries Spears didn’t hold back while discussing Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, describing her skillset as “garbage” and her fanbase as “delusional.”
The Sky rookie is one of the league’s most skilled young players, specifically in rebounding. Reese led the league in rebounds per game with 13.1 and was second in total rebounds with 446. However, her inefficient shooting was a talking point.
“To all the people about the Angel Reese versus Caitlin Clark thing, to all the Black people out here trying to make it a racial issue, y’all delusional,” Spears said on Instagram last week. “Reese is garbage. Pure garbage. When you look at it in terms of skillset, her versus Caitlin, she’s garbage.
“She just throws the ball up and plays like she’s part of the Special Olympics. She plays like a toddler. There’s no finesse, no smoothness, no beauty, no poetry, no skillset to her game at all. She’s garbage. Stop being delusional.”
In close-range shots (less than five feet), the rookie attempted 321 shots but only made 143, generating only 44.5% from that distance. At the five to nine feet range, she had 36 attempts. However, the former LSU star only made four, making her an 11.1% shooter from that range.
These inconsistencies impacted her overall scoring. While she still averaged 13.6 points per game, Reese finished at 39.1% shooting.
A veteran rapper isn’t a fan of Angel Reese’s off-court activities
Rapper and podcaster Joe Budden has publicly advised Angel Reese to follow Caitlin Clark’s blueprint before. The blueprint that Budden pointed out was the fact that Clark doesn’t have as many public appearances as Reese, despite being the top pick of the 2024 draft.
Now, Reese’s podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” has picked up some controversy, even at the start of her show. Recently, fans criticized the Sky forward for having Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend on the show. Her latest public appearance was at the hip-hop variety show, “Wild ‘n Out.”
Budden advised Reese to slow down on her public appearances.
“Whoever (Reese) got is telling her to go pop up everywhere. That’s not what Caitlin Clark’s people are saying, not to make it racial. … We just on some star rookie s*** now,” Budden said.
Reese hasn’t addressed the comments made by Budden.
