After unveiling upgrades to the iMac and Mac Mini with M4 chips, Apple completes this week’s announcements with the MacBook Pro. Similar with the iMac, the MacBook Pro M4 gets incremental upgrades, with the base version now having 16GB RAM as standard, along with an additional USB-C Thunderbolt 4 on the right side of the laptop.
All models also benefit from an updated 12-megapixel webcam with Center Stage as well, along with both Space Black and Silver colorways—this time, the colors are no longer exclusive to the more expensive models. The display gets a slight upgrade with a maximum brightness of 1000nits for viewing SDR content.
Aside from an M4 Pro option that was initially revealed with the all-new Mac Mini, the MacBook Pro now has an M4 Max chip that has a 16-core CPU, up to a 40-core GPU, and support for as much as 128GB RAM. Like the M4 Pro option, MacBook Pros configured with an M4 Max chip get support for USB-C Thunderbolt 5, leaving the base M4 option with Thunderbolt 4. Like the updated iMacs, the M4 MacBook Pros also have an option for a nano-texture display for an additional cost.
As for the MacBook Air, there will be no M4 option, but current M2 and M3 models will now have 16GB of RAM as standard—all with the same base price.
The base MacBook M4 starts at Php 99,990 for the 14-inch model with 512GB storage. The M4 Pro starts at Php 129,990 for the 14-inch model with 24GB RAM and 512GB storage and Php 159,990 for the 16-inch model with the same configuration. The M4 Max starts at Php 201,990 for the 14-inch model with 36GB RAM and 1TB storage and Php 219,990 for the 16-inch model with the same configuration.
