Trick or treaters in the capital might want to consider beach-themed costumes for their rounds Thursday night.
Environment Canada’s latest forecast is calling for a high of about 23 C, which would be a record high for Halloween.
While Ottawa weather is never cast in stone, Geoff Coulson, a warning preparedness meteorologist at Environment Canada, says most signs indicate the day’s high temperature will top the previous record of 22.2 C set in 1942.

There’s also a good chance that Wednesday’s forecast high of 21 C will top the record for this date of 20.8 C, set in 1989.
Coulson noted that there’s a 70-per-cent chance of showers Thursday night, although it’s thought the precipitation will begin later in the evening, after most trick-or-treaters are back in bed.
The frightening weather might come Friday, to welcome in November, with a daytime high of 12 degrees expected.
And Saturday’s projected high of 6 C is more like the usual climate in Ottawa.
