NASA moon mission-inspired watch by Anicorn
Anicorn unveils its first steel watch inspired by NASA’s exploration and study of Jupiter’s icy moon, Europa. It’s because of this that the themed collection is named Europa Clipper Mission. It is an Anicorn series of crafted watches that pays homage to this specific NASA mission, congregating information related to the quest and turning it into design elements for the watch. The first comes through the front view of the watch, which displays the NASA Meatball logo, which has evolved into the ‘red worm’ typeface after some historic years.
On top of the logo, there’s a subtle engraving of the Drake Equation, a math formula that queries the possibility of finding life or advanced civilizations in the universe, as well as the Water Hole radio emission lines, which represent the mission to discover signals from distant planets. These two are laser-etched on the front of the NASA mission-inspired watch. Just above them, the hour indication is seen through the window-shaped glass as the numbers spin around. On the dial, there are two small steel parts, one long and one short, depicting the hands of the timepiece. There’s even a ‘third’ hand anchoring the letter ‘A’ which stands for Anicorn.

‘Europa clipper mission’ watch with vault plate-shaped glass
When the wearer flips the NASA mission-inspired watch, they find that Anicorn places a Vault Plate-shaped rear glass, which sees through the inner mechanics of the timepiece. It’s also a reference to Europa’s crust, further underlined with the appearance of the Europa Clipper logo. For the straps, the brand adds a stainless steel bracelet in gray to reflect the vault plate’s color. It is also changeable too with an FKM strap that has Europa Clipper’s logo.
Even the packaging harks back to NASA’s moon mission on Jupiter as Anicorn wraps the watch up in a screwed metal container. Instead of pulling up the box as some watches’ packaging typically does, the brand asks the wearer to unscrew the container for them to pick up the NASA-inspired timepiece. The Exploration Collection of Anicorn is inspired by NASA’s Europa Clipper mission, which is a 30-year exploration aimed at understanding whether or not there are other habitable planets or places aside from Earth.
