The Palawan provincial government opened the 1st PGP Statistical Data Exhibit on October 28-29, 2024, at the Centennial Pavilion in the Capitol as part of the 35th National Statistics Month.
The exhibit started with a program and ribbon-cutting attended by Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) chairperson and Provincial Planning and Development coordinator Sharlene D. Vilches, PSC members, and Capitol employees.
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Senior Statistical Specialist Jesus Nino M. Sorima was present and delivered remarks.
With the theme “Advancing Data and Statistics through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation,” the exhibit displays infographics from government agencies, including data on Palawan’s population, energy, agriculture, environment, and tourism.
In her message, Vilches underscored the importance of statistics and data in public service:
“It shows our commitment to delivering the quality of services that we aim for our desired common good. It is also a reflection of our intention to magnify the importance of data-driven actions to the rest of the provincial government service providers, hindi lamang sa mga PSC members…We want them also to be powerful, that is why we are sharing this information and statistics,” she said.
