Thomas Frank fancies a decent run in this competition and he’s got it – Brentford are into the last eight and have a chance against anyone, especially at home.
We said earlier that it makes sense to back the better technique under pressure, and Brentford have just taken as good a set of penalties as you’ll see. Shouldn’t have been necessary – as I type that, Flekken makes praying hands at the fans, apologising for his error – but though his team rely on him not to toss the ball to the opposition, they played poorly after half-time.
