At about 4:30 a.m., police received a call about a person breaking into the Esso gas station at 578 Stewart Boulevard.
Officers responded quickly and found a vehicle on the property with an 18-year-old woman in the driver’s seat.
“The female attempted to flee, but as she drove away, she became blocked by bushes and then pinned in by the police vehicle, to prevent further escape,” police said Monday.
Police had information that a second person was inside the gas station store. An officer went inside and located a 22-year-old male suspect.
“It was evident that this was a break-and-enter, in progress. Both subjects were arrested,” police added.
A search of the man turned up property from the store and break-in tools, said police, adding the suspect was also on two separate probation orders.
The male suspect was charged with break and enter, possession of break in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of failing to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
Police charged the young woman with break and enter, flight from police and possession of property obtained by crime. She was released on conditions with a future court date.
