I recently started following the Cricket subreddit. 99% of discussion I read there involved the playing of the sport, tactics, comparing players, and a general lighthearted approach with an appreciation for the art of the sport.
So why is it that so much of footbsll discourse is centred around any of these mind numbing topics – Corruption, politics, cheating, human rights “activism” and everything besides the actual playing of the sport that we love? Why are football fans so depressing online? What happened to actually appreciating the sport? It seems like people just want to have something to complain about in the sport 24/7.
I think football fans can take a leaf out of the way cricket fans follow and enjoy their sport. Light hearted, fun and ultimately just entertainment at the end of the day. Not everything being a life or death, geopolitical, deep state conspiracy against X team.
