Some of my football "hot takes"

This isn't really hot takes but I didn't know how to call what I'm trying to say so wtv. Before I start I want y'all to know that not only is English not my first language ( so I may make some mistakes ) but I just recently started watching football so my knowledge won't be as good as someone who has watched football their whole life. Hope you enjoy!

  1. The ballon d'or I think it should be an one-time thing. Something you know will means that you've achieved all that you could this year. That you were better than everyone else, and that you surpassed yourself. The fact that you can win it multiple times is kinda boring, not like the WC that is only every four years. Being able to win it only one time would give justice to all the football geniuses who lived through the cristessi era ( Iniesta, Ribรฉry, Lewandowski, Neymar, etc..). Would love for the defenders to be taken more seriously when considering the winner too. Carvajal had a heck of a season ( not saying Vini doesn't deserve it, he really does, and I love the fact that it shuts the haters down ), won almost everything he could've won with his club AND his country, yet you'll barely see him in ballon d'or debates. The fact that the last defender to win it was cannavaro in 2006 is crazy.

  2. The away rule Recently learned about the away rule. That was pure genius, and didn't put the players through the whole pens situation which is most of the time luck. It made the away teams a little bit more aggressive, and the whole game much more interesting.

  3. The time Everyone knows that in plenty of others sports, like in rugby, they stop the time every time the players aren't playing. I've seen a lot of people saying that they wish it was the same with football, but I think that's one of the sport's trademarks : so many iconic goals were scored in additional time! And a lot of teams are known for their late remontadas ( namely : Real Madrid ) so idk what we would do without it.

  4. Fans The fans' attitude should be taken more seriously. I know that recently, the leagues have been starting to do so, but it's crazy that we live in a world where racism, homophobia, xenophobia etc are prohibited everywhere, except in football. I do think that there are enough insults in the world without them being about a player's race. I'm still mad about that one time when Argentina's players sang a racist chant about the french after winning the Copa America. This isn't something that should be happening in 2024.

  5. Penalties I know that a lot of people think like me, but still : penalties should be taken by the one who won it. No more stupid disputes about who should take it. And when it's something like a handball, the captain should take it ( whether it's a field player or the goalkeeper, it would make things more fun )

I hope you had a fun time reading, and that I didn't embarrass myself too much. Feel free to tell me if any of the things I mentioned are impossible to realize, or if you think I'm wrong.
