Fashion influencers often set trends and inspire us with their style, but Rina Bach is taking it a step further with her latest IKEA hack. She recently shared a clever way to organize her sunglasses that’s both practical and stylish.
The Struggle: Sunglasses Everywhere
Like many of us, Rina found herself dealing with a bit of a mess when it came to her sunglasses. “My sunglasses have been messing around in cabinets, drawers, bags, etc.,” she mentioned.
If you’ve ever dug through a pile of accessories looking for that perfect pair of shades, you know the struggle is real. Rina realized she needed a dedicated spot for her sunglasses—not just for looks, but to keep things organized.
Sunglasses Meet the LUSTIGT Wall Shelf
Enter the LUSTIGT wall shelf from IKEA’s kids’ section. It might seem like a random choice, but that’s precisely what IKEA hacking is.
Instead of using the shelves in a playful “Donkey Kong” style which IKEA recommends, Rina assembled the shelves in a straight line for storage on both sides of the ledge.
She then gave this $9.99 shelf a little makeover by painting it white with some leftover paint. When done, Rina installed it on the wall near the exit, making it perfect for grabbing her sunglasses before heading out the door. “Think I’m a damn genius if I do say so myself,” she joked in her post, and we can’t disagree.

Her sunglasses now have a stylish new designated rack, adding a cute touch to her room. Who knew a kids’ shelf could look so chic?

No problem. This hack isn’t just for sunglasses. You can use the shelf to display other accessories like jewelry, as a key holder, create a home for LEGO minifigs, or even display small plants. I needed a quick and affordable solution to hang my sunglasses, and an IKEA hack did the trick! I used 3M Command hooks (which don’t damage the apartment walls) along with a repurposed IKEA LÄMPLIG trivet (cooling rack).
