A G1 driver who was stopped by police after posting a speed of 160 km/h early Thursday apparently thought he could fool arresting officers by swapping seats with a passenger once the vehicle was stopped.
Sharp-eyed Ontario Provincial Police officers had seen that sort of trick before, so they wrote up another offence on a lengthy charge sheet.
Police stopped the vehicle for stunt driving shortly before 1 a.m. after radar indicated the vehicle had been travelling at 160 km/h on Highway 417 near Maitland Avenue.

Upon further investigation, police determined the vehicle was also not insured.
The driver was charged with multiple infractions, including stunt driving and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
โThe combined penalty upon conviction would be $7,000, six demerit points, and a one-year driving prohibition,โ police said in a news release.
The driver also faced numerous G1 licence violations, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
OPP also confirmed later that the female passenger had been taken into custody on a charge of obstructing a peace officer, but she was released unconditionally.
