Having signed Antony from Ajax for a reported fee of £86 million back in 2022, Manchester United are now willing to cut their losses and part ways with the Brazilian winger, according to Football Insider. He is not a part of the plans under manager Erik ten Hag anymore, and the club are eager to get his enormous wages off their bill.
Indeed, Antony has played only 27 minutes of Premier League football this season, spread over two appearances off the bench, without any goal contributions.
However, at United they are apparently aware that potential suitors are unlikely to make suitable offers for a permanent transfer, and a loan appears more likely at this point. Even so, the club that would take him on would still have to cover a large part of his wages.
In all competitions, the 24-year-old has 12 goals and four assists in 86 appearances for the 20-time English champions – obviously underwhelming numbers for such an expensive attacking player.
Antony could reportedly return to Ajax, though Newcastle and Crystal Palace are said to be monitoring the situation as well.
