Happy International Music Day from JCFPL

Happy International Music Day from JCFPL! This day pays tribute to musicians and all diverse music genres worldwide. International Music Day was officially designated on October 1, 1975, with the goal of uniting people from all walks of life through their diverse artistic expressions, particularly music, which symbolizes equality as it resonates with everyone. The Jersey City Free Public Library has long recognized the power of music through various programs. For 45+ years, the Community Awareness Series has been a library department that consists of local artists and musicians who perform throughout the Library system and city. We also offer ongoing programs such as music production classes at the Miller Branch Teen Center and Youth Beginner Guitar Lessons at our JCFPL Creative Arts Center.

• Hoopla: Hoopla has access to thousands of ebooks, comics, audiobooks, and music albums all available for mobile and desktop use. Digital content from Hollywood studios, major-label record companies, and publishers can be borrowed for instant streaming to smartphones, tablets, and computers or for temporary downloading to smartphones and tablets. 

• Beanstack: A one-stop shop for tracking your reading progress and activities at the JCFPL. Earn digital badges by logging books, tracking reading times ,attend programming, or write reviews for our year-round reading challenges. 

• Rosetta Stone: Founded in 1992, Rosetta Stone uses cloud-based technology to help all types of learners read, write, and speak more than 30 languages, including several that are endangered. Today, Rosetta Stone is one of the most recognized language learning companies in the world.

“This is a small neighborhood library with a limited selection, but gets all the stars I can give it because of the friendly and helpful staff. They have gone above and beyond to seek out books from other branches to send here when they don’t have what I’m looking for. I have found numerous wonderful books for my little one, gotten everything from classics to current works, read the Jersey Journal and surfed the web. This is a wonderful resource for the neighborhood, just wish it was open more than Monday to Friday!”
