It has been a familiar stressful start for the Toffees this season. Despite keeping most of their stars this summer, they are in another relegation battle. With such uncertainty, Everton transfer rumours are never far away.
The club have long been in hot water with the Premier Leagueโs Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), suffering two points deductions last season. As such, they made a ยฃ28m profit on their summer business.
Everton will be desperate to avoid relegation, particularly with their impressive Bramley Moore Dock stadium set to open next season. Transfers in January could prove important in their survival.
Everton transfer rumours
Sean Dyche’s side have struggled this season, and are currently averaging an expected goal difference of -0.74 per 90, a significant drop off from last season’s -0.03.
Despite defensive reinforcements such as Jake O’Brien, the Toffees have looked leaky at the back, on top of existing goal scoring issues.

Hot rumours
Santiago Castro
Bologna were raided this summer as they qualified for the Champions League. The Italian outfit lost manager Thiago Motta, Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee. The latter has been replaced by Argentine striker Santiago Castro.
But the 20-year-old may not stay in Serie A long. He is scoring at a rate of around a goal every other game this campaign, with an assist too.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto both linked with moves to Italy, Everton could have space in their squad for a new striker. For the Toffees to survive, an early move for Castro may be necessary.
Kieran Trippier
Kieran Trippier was closely linked to a Merseyside move this summer, with The Athletic’s renowned David Ornstein reporting that Trippier was keen to move on from Newcastle.
Trippier, 32, is no longer an automatic starter at Newcastle, with youngsters Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall preferred to the veteran.
The Toffees couldn’t get a deal for Dyche’s former Burnley charge done, but could revisit this move in January.
Miguel Almiron
Another Magpie linked with a move from north-east to north-west is Miguel Almiron. The Paraguayan speedster is expected to leave in January, as he struggles for playing time. He has had just 32 minutes of Premier League action so far this season.
Almiron could add that injection of pace that Everton couldn’t get in the summer, with moves for Jaden Philogene and Yankuba Minteh all failing. He would be available for an affordable fee too.
Silas Katompa Mvumpa
Looking further afield, Everton could add speed in the form of Silas Katompa Mvumpa, who currently plies his trade with Red Star Belgrade.
The Congolese winger is currently on loan in Serbia, but has a release clause of just ยฃ8.4m, and parent club Stuttgart have stipulated a 15% sell-on clause on any sale Red Star make, inferring they expect Silas to be on the move again soon.
The 26-year-old has two goals in three appearances so far this season.
Chris Rigg
Everton are also reportedly one of a number of clubs keeping an eye on Sunderland sensation Chris Rigg.
The midfielder has made himself a regular in the Championship at just 17. Given the success of similar talent Adam Wharton in stepping up to the Premier League, Everton could be well-served by an early move for the teenager.
