Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitrii Bivol prediction and fight preview
This is a fascinating match-up of styles as stoppage specialist Artur Beterbiev takes on supreme technician Dmitrii Bivol.
Beterbiev has a perfect record with 20 stoppage wins in as many fights, while Bivol has a 23-0 record and boasts a win over one of the pound-for-pound greats in Canelo Alvarez.
It is unfair on both fighters to label this as a brawler vs boxer contest but there are elements of that here, and I tend to favour the more skilled fighter in such circumstances.
Beterbiev needs to turn this into a war to win but Bivol, with his supreme movement, accurate left-hook and deceptive yet reliable jab, just looks too slick.
Bivol is the slight favourite and the best play here looks to be backing the 33-year-old to win on points, as Beterbiev won’t give up his unbeaten record easily.
Saturday’s 19/1 Boxing Accumulator Tip
Bivol to win by decision or technical decision
Vs Beterbiev
Chris Eubank Jr 2 or More Knockdowns
Vs Kamil Szeremeta
Chris Eubank Jr knows he needs to put on a show on Saturday and Poland’s Kamil Szeremeta is an opponent he can impress against. Eubank Jr has recorded six knockdowns across his last three fights and Szeremeta has hauled himself off the canvas against Gennady Golovkin before eventually being stopped earlier in his career, so 2 or more knockdowns for the Briton looks doable.
Fight to go the distance – No
Fabio Wardley vs Frazer Clarke
This is a rematch after a draw earlier this year. That first meeting required 12 rounds but I’m still not sure quite how that happened as both men took some real punishment. Clarke nearly went down in the fifth, and Wardley was clinging on at the end. Both will be looking for a stoppage in this rematch after a frustrating draw last time and one of these two British heavyweights can claim a KO victory – I’m just not sure which one.
Jai Opetaia to win in rounds 7-12
vs Jack Massey
Jai Opetaia looks a level above Jack Massey and it won’t be too long before the talented Australian is headlining these events himself. Massey is no pushover, however, and has gone the full distance in defeats to Richard Riakporhe. Massey has mever been stopped but Opetaia has stopped five of his last seven opponents and only Mairis Briedis, twice, has gone the distance with the southpaw during that run. Massey can reach the second half of this clash, but Opetaia can get the job done before the final bell.
