A man was killed while another is in critical condition after a collision with an oncoming pick-up truck in Sitio Tagkawayan, Brgy. Bacungan, Puerto Princesa City, at around 4:05 p.m. yesterday, October 11.
The deceased was identified as Marlon Montes, a construction worker, while the critically injured driver was identified as Eric Mancera, 30, his work companion. The driver of the pick-up was identified as Ruel Sobere Jr., 21, a resident of Brgy. Bagong Sikat, also in the city.
According to information gathered by Palawan News, witnesses saw the pick-up truck driven by Sobere on an uphill and curved section of the road. It reportedly swerved into the opposite lane.
Before this, the pick-up reportedly struck barriers on the side of the road before crashing into the victimsโ motorcycle.
In a report from Police Station 2, the pick-up was heading in the direction of Tagkawayan for an outing when the accident occurred.
Currently, discussions are ongoing between the parties of the victims and the suspect. The suspect may still face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injuries, and damage to property
