Japan attacker Ritsu Doan marked his 100th appearance for German Bundesliga side Freiburg by scoring in a 3-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.
The 26-year-old Samurai Blue star struck his fifth goal of the season to make it 2-0 in the 49th minute at Europa-Park Stadion after Lucas Hoeler opened the scoring for the hosts late in the first half.
Having sparked the attack with a move from the right, Doan was in the right place to regather the ball and fire home after his teammate’s shot was blocked.

Japan center-back Ko Itakura played the full match for Monchengladbach, who pulled a goal back shortly before Hoeler bagged his brace in the 63rd minute.
The result moved Freiburg to sixth in the table with 20 points from 12 matches, while Monchengladbach dropped to ninth on 17 points.
In other Bundesliga action, 20-year-old Japanese defender Anrie Chase played the full game for Stuttgart in their 2-2 draw away to Werder Bremen.
