When making a purchase decision, the first thing to consider available space. Whether you’re putting your monitor on a desk or attaching it to a wall, most of us like to have at least a 24- to 30-inch screen. Though if you’ve got lots of documents you’re working on at once or doing some detailed graphical work, a wider or even a curved-screen monitor is worth looking into.
Resolution is a more important decision when it comes to cost: 1080p is good enough for basic office work on a moderate-sized screen (about 24-30 inches), though you’ll notice the difference if you step up to 1440p. Gamers will probably want to splurge on a 4K monitor if their graphics cards can handle the work. You’ll also want to pay attention to refresh rate: 75Hz is the standard for office work but gaming monitors should look at options starting at 144Hz.
