More major international sports events are coming to Hong Kong, including the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships to be held on November 30 to December 4, marking its first time being held in Hong Kong.
This came as the government announced that the Major Sports Events Committee awarded an M mark status to three major international sports events.
The other M mark events are the Milwaukee Hong Kong Squash Open 2024, scheduled for December 2 to 8 and the WSF World Squash Team Championships 2024, slated for December 9 to 15.
Committee chairman Wilfred Ng Sau-kei said the Taekwondo championships will be held for the first time in Hong Kong. It is an international taekwondo event as well as an important platform for promoting the poomsae discipline.
In addition, the Milwaukee Hong Kong Squash Open 2024 is a major event on the global squash scene, with the world’s top players competing, according to Ng.
Apart from being hosted in Hong Kong for the first time, it is also the first time that both men’s and women’s events will be held together.
