The Queen of Ibile pageant, an initiative by Platinum Entertainment has announced its audition for a cultural showcase and reality TV show.
The audition will take place at Freedom Park, Lagos, on December 20, starting at 10:00 AM.
The registration for the pageant is open until December 18.
The cultural project is endorsed by the Lagos State Government in collaboration with Lagos State Government, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and the Afro-Caribbean Chamber of Culture and Tourism. According to a statement by the organisers, the state endorsed the pageant because of its commitment to transforming Lagos as a robust hub for arts, culture, and the creative economy. It also has a proven passion for gender rights and women empowerment.
The Queen of Ibile pageant blends tradition and modernity to celebrate the state’s rich cultural heritage. In line with its core values, brands that identify with the state as a hub for the arts, culture, creative economy and women empowerment have begun to leverage the pageant.
The Amen Estate, a real estate development brand of Redbrick Homes International Ltd and Amen City Ltd has partnered with the pageant to provide a conducive and safe space for the delectable, intelligent, culturally conscious and entrepreneurial ladies at Ibeju-Lekki.
Also, the Yoruba cultural group in Mexico has endorsed the pageant.
They have offered the winner and the first runner-up an all expense trip to Mexico.
This is in a bid to achieve a deep cultural exchange between the Diaspora of the black Atlantic and the homeland. According to the curator of the peagent, Olayinka Edu, the competitive, cultural and women empowerment pageant highlights the rich cultural heritage of the state, bringing together tradition and modernity to create a platform that empowers young women and celebrates the state’s diverse communities.
The event explores the IBILE divisional concept, which the five administrative divisions of Lagos State—Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe—and serves as the foundation for the competition.
The pageant provides young women aged 18 to 27 with opportunities to become ambassadors of culture, beauty, and innovation.
Participants will compete in various activities during a two-week camp, including culminating in the crowning of the Queen of Ibile and other category winners.
Apart from the cash and car prizes, the winning Queen will be supported to leverage her new role as a development ambassador to improve the lives of women and girls in her division. Registration and other requirements can be accessed on its official website, queenofibile.com.
Contestants will represent their local communities, showcasing the vibrant traditions, culinary delights, artistic and socio-entrepreneurial achievements unique to each division.
They are also expected to be passionate about development and social causes and conversant with the history and culture of the city.
The housing of the ladies will afford the contestants training sessions from seasoned women media persons, development, cultural and entrepreneurial leaders.
