Somerset have signed England all-rounder Charlie Dean to their new women’s team for 2025.
Dean, 23, came through the Hampshire setup and spent the last seven seasons with Southern Vipers, winning five trophies including the Charlotte Edwards Cup and Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
The off-spinner won the first of her 69 England caps in 2021 when she was called up for the One-Day International series against New Zealand, where she was England’s leading wicket-taker with 10.
Dean became the fastest woman to take 50 ODI wickets for England, doing so in 26 matches and in 2022 was named the PCA’s Women’s ODI Player of the Year.
“The club has a rich history of success in the menโs game, and this is something we are keen to replicate as the womenโs team,” Dean said.
“I would love to make some winning contributions at Somerset with both bat and ball, helping the team to bring home some silverware.”
