1 dead, several injured as South Korea hit by worst November snowstorm

South Korea experienced its heaviest November snowstorm in more than 50 years on Wednesday, disrupting travel and other daily activities.
The snowstorm blanketed the capital, Seoul, with 20 centimeters of snow in northern areas, according to South Korea’s weather agency. This is the most snow the city has seen in November since a storm in 1972 brought 12 centimeters.
The snowstorm affected other parts of the country, including central, eastern, and southwestern regions, which recorded 10 to 23 centimeters of snow. The icy conditions caused delays and cancellations for at least 220 flights at airports across the country. Authorities also kept around 90 ferries at port and closed hundreds of hiking trails.
South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported a five-vehicle accident in the eastern town of Hongcheon, which left one person dead and four injured.
The weather agency said snowfall is expected to continue in most parts of the country until Thursday.
