Islamabad witnessed a tragic escalation of violence early Tuesday when a vehicle from a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest rally rammed into security personnel on duty along the Srinagar Highway.
The incident claimed the lives of four Rangers personnel and left five others, including Rangers and police officers, critically injured.
The attack occurred during a protest march by PTI supporters heading towards D-Chowk. Security sources confirmed that Pakistan Army units have assumed control of Islamabad’s security under Article 245 of the Constitution. To curb violence, authorities have issued shoot-at-sight orders.
Two police officers were also martyred in other clashes with protesters. Security forces have vowed to take stern action against those involved in these violent acts, implementing strict measures to maintain law and order.
