Now that Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus laptops are on the market, Qualcomm is looking to launch laptops with a Snapdragon X chip at a much more accessible price point. Qualcomm is looking at a $600(~Php 36k) price point for these laptops using this new entry-level chip.
Do note that it is only speculated to be called Snapdragon X, so Qualcomm may use a different name (just like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 being named Snapdragon 8 Elite at the last minute). We don’t know about its key specs yet, but since the Elite version carried a 12-core CPU and the Plus version can be configured with an 8- or 10-core CPU, it is speculated that the vanilla Snapdragon X will have a 6-core CPU.
Even with “only” a 6-core CPU, this upcoming laptop Snapdragon chip aims to bring Copilot+ as well, making Microsoft’s AI features accessible even on entry-level laptops. Qualcomm has yet to give an announcement date for this new Snapdragon chip, but we expect them to unveil it at CES 2025. This should give Qualcomm an edge, as both Inel and AMD have no plans yet to introduce powerful NPUs to their entry-level chips.
