MORENO VALLEY, CA — The adoptive parents of a 10-year-old boy have been charged with murder, torture and child abuse after the boy died at a hospital, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Alejandra Marin, 51, and Juan Sanchez Moreno, 59, both of Moreno Valley, were arrested in connection with the death, authorities said.
Deputies responded around 6:30 p.m. Thursday to the 13000 block of Malibu Court in Moreno Valley for a report of a child in need of medical aid and found the boy in medical distress, according to the sheriff’s office, which said the child was brought to a hospital, where he died several hours later.
An initial investigation revealed signs of possible neglect and abuse, authorities said, and a joint probe by the sheriff’s office’s Central Homicide and Special Victims units resulted in the arrests.
