David Moyes could soon be offered the chance to return to Everton.
The 61-year-old Scot took charge of 518 games during 11 and a bit seasons in charge at Goodison Park before leaving to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 2013.
Moyes lasted less than a year at Old Trafford and then also had short spells managing Real Sociedad and Sunderland, before overseeing 262 games as West Ham boss.
Everton, who are currently managed by Sean Dyche, were booed off the pitch by their home fans on Saturday after drawing 0-0 with 10-man Brentford.
That result left the Toffees 15th in the Premier League table, just three points above the relegation zone.
Dyche is under contract until the end of the season.

However, according to The Sun, Moyes is being lined up as a replacement for Dyche by the club’s prospective new owners.
Dan Friedkin is working on completing his takeover from current owner Farhad Moshiri.
Friedkin, who is seeking support from Everton superfans Andy Bell and George Downing, apparently sees Moyes as a top candidate to replace Dyche should the former Watford and Burnley boss be sacked.
Moyes oversaw eight top-seven finishes during his 11 full Premier League seasons in charge of Everton.
That included the 2004-05 campaign when the Toffees pipped rivals Liverpool to fourth place.
Everton have only finished in the top seven twice since Moyes left, while they have ended the last three campaigns 16th, 17th and 15th.
Next season will see Everton leave Goodison Park and embark on a new era at a freshly-built 52,888-capacity arena at Bramley-Moore Dock.
