Reigns to Reportedly Have Significant Presence on Raw
Roman Reigns has primarily been a SmackDown Superstar for the past several years, but he will reportedly be seen regularly on Raw in the near future.
That comes as little surprise since Raw is set to undergo a significant transition, moving from USA Network to Netflix, starting on Jan. 6, 2025.
Given the enormity and landmark nature of WWE’s deal with Netflix, the company has been advertising the move with great regularity, and there is reason to believe the debut episode of Raw on Netflix will be stacked.
Reigns and WWE champion Cody Rhodes seem like safe bets to be on the episode, plus the possibility exists that WWE could include some other iconic Superstars in the show.
Netflix’s first official ad for Raw featured both John Cena and The Rock, leading to speculation that both legends could be on the debut episode.
Cena, who is set to have a WWE retirement tour in 2025, said over the summer that he would be present for the first Raw and Netflix.
The Rock hasn’t mad any such assurances, but he did return last month at Bad Blood, and if Reigns and Rhodes are going to be on the Jan. 6 Raw, it would make sense for The Rock to be involved as well.
Reigns is embroiled heavily in a storyline involving his own original Bloodline and the new Bloodline, and that figures to stretch even beyond their WarGames match at Survivor Series next week, meaning Reigns should bring some of the most compelling storytelling in wrestling to Raw early next year.
WWE Reportedly Interested in Jake Paul Appearance
Following his successful boxing match against Mike Tyson last week, WWE is reportedly considering a way to get Jake Paul involved with the product at some point next year.
According to WrestleVotes, WWE has “notable interest” in Paul make an appearance at a premium live event in 2025, although the exact nature of what he would do isn’t yet known.
Paul, who is the younger brother of WWE Superstar Jake Paul, beat Tyson by unanimous decision last week, bringing his career boxing record to 11-1.
The 27-year-old Paul largely dominated the fight against the 58-year-old Tyson, who was a multi-time world champion and one of the most dominant heavyweights of all time during his heyday, although he hadn’t had an official pro fight since 2005.
After the bout, Tyson expressed interest in fighting Logan Paul next, to which Logan replied, “Motherf–ker, I’d kill you, Mike.”
WrestleVotes (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News) then reported this week that a source confirmed WWE’s interest in potentially making a Tyson vs. Logan Paul wrestling match happen at WrestleMania 41.
Should that happen, it would be an obvious move to have Jake Paul involved in some way, either as Logan’s corner man or a special guest referee.
Another option would be for WWE to find a wrestler to team with Tyson against the Paul brothers in a tag team match so that Logan and the wrestler could do most of the heavy lifting.
A Tyson wrestling match at his age would perhaps leave something to be desired, but given the undeniable interest he and Jake Paul generated for their fight, it is tough to blame WWE for possibly wanting to involve them in the product.
MVP Wants to Retire in AEW
MVP has only been with AEW since September, but he already sees himself ending his pro wrestling career with the promotion.
Responding to a question from a fan on the Bluesky social media platform (h/t Carrier), MVP gave some insight into his future plans in wrestling.
When asked if he plans to wrestle in AEW, MVP said he does, and added that he intends to retire in AEW, which suggests his retirement match will take place in the company if he has his way.
MVP first rose to prominence in WWE from 2006 until his release in 2010, and after a successful run in New Japan Pro-Wrestling and TNA, he returned to WWE in 2020.
Along with Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and eventually Cedric Alexander, MVP formed the Hurt Business, which was the dominant group of the COVID-19 pandemic era, as Lashley held United States Championship and the WWE Championship.
The Hurt Business eventually split up and MVP never found the same success managing Omos, which resulted in him disappearing from television and allowing his WWE contract to expire.
MVP’s contract expiration essentially coincided with Lashley’s which allowed MVP to form a new version of the Hurt Business called the Hurt Syndicate with Lashley and Benjamin in AEW.
The first major match involving the Hurt Syndicate is set for Saturday at Full Gear with Lashley facing former AEW world champion Swerve Strickland.
It remains to be seen when MVP will return to in-ring action, but for now, he has a great gig guiding one of the most dominant forces in wrestling in Lashley.
