How does a black hole grow from a point of view of an outside observer if time dilation is a thing?

Hello! This question was asked but i don’t think the question itself was answered, or maybe i just didn’t understand it.

If we know that if an object or particle is falling into a black hole and from an outside observers point of view it takes an almost infinite time to fall in then how do black holes grow/have grown from the point of view of an outside observer(us)? Now if i was the object/particle for me time would pass normaly but i would see the universe die quickly before I cross the event horizon. So how does it actually work? I hope i explained my question understandably, Im looking forward to reading the answers.
