Two men have been charged in what the Surrey RCMP says was a case of mistaken identity in a 2022 shooting.
Surrey RCMP Sgt. Tammy Lobb says Juan Pablo Segovia-Sanhueza, 23, from Toronto, and Terry Rodney Jeffrey McDonald, 26, from Surrey, were arrested on Nov. 7 after an almost two-year investigation.
The charges of attempted murder date back to Dec. 17, 2022, when shots were fired in the 6400-block of 188 Street in Cloverdale. A 44-year-old man with gunshot wounds was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“The investigation was assumed by the Surrey RCMP serious crime unit at the onset, as investigators sought information which would bring light to the circumstances behind the shooting,” Lobb said.
“Investigators worked tirelessly and were able to determine that this shooting was that of a mistaken identity. The victim has since recovered from their gunshot injuries.”
Segovia-Sanhueza and McDonald were also charged with discharging a firearm with intent to wound or disfigure, while McDonald faces an additional charge of arson.
The municipal Surrey Police Service is set to take over policing from the Surrey RCMP at the end of this month.
