Doylestown Set To Welcome Santa With Historic Tree Lighting



DOYLESTOWN, PA — For the 110th year, Doylestown will gather in a Norman Rockwell moment to officially kick off the holiday season.

A 23-foot-tall Norwegian Spruce from Bountiful Acres will take center stage on Friday, Nov. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. for the town’s annual tree lighting.

This is the seventh year that Bountiful Acres has donated a tree for the century-old town tradition, which draws thousands to the heart of town to kick off the holiday season.

Staged by Discover Doylestown, Simply Fresh, and the Borough of Doylestown, this year’s event will again be emceed by Richard Curtis and will include live seasonal music, a parade ushering Santa into town and the official arrival of Santa at Main and State to light the tree.

Joining Santa and Mrs. Claus at the event will be Princess Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and the Grinch.

The parade will feature Action Karate, State Street Dancers, Ascend Dance, Max’s Electric Bikes, Broken Arrow Ranch, Ambler Industries, Nook Nook Music School, Moore Family Power Washing, Shake & Freeze, Moyer Indoor/Outdoor, Main St., Bountiful Acres, the Central Bucks West Marching Band, Bucks Bubbles, Patty Blumberg, Engine 99, and Public Works of Doylestown Borough.

“People should arrive by 5 p.m. because our live performances start at 5 and continue to 6:30,” said Mike Kendrick of Discover Doylestown. “The parade is expected to arrive at the tree around 6:30 p.m.”

Parking Restrictions

Doylestown Borough has announced the following traffic and parking restrictions for the Santa Parade and Tree Lighting ceremony:

  • Parking will be prohibited on both sides of State Street from Pine to Hamilton Street beginning at 3 p.m.
  • Parking will be prohibited on both sides of Main Street from Court to Oakland beginning at 3 p.m.
  • The restrictions will remain in place until the event concludes at about 8:30 p.m.
  • All vehicles parked on the route after 3 p.m. on Nov. 29 will be towed at the owner’s expense.
  • Use caution on West Court from Central Bucks West to the intersection of Court, State and Clinton.

Small Business Saturday

On Saturday, everyone’s invited back to downtown Doylestown for a day of shopping and supporting small businesses.

Small Business Saturday will include discount offers, unique and one-of-a-kind gifts, a festive holiday atmosphere and personalized service from friendly shop owners.

Free parking will be available at the county garages at Broad and Union Streets and at Broad and Court Streets.

Santa House

Santa will be at his house at the Hamilton Lot beginning on Saturday, Nov. 30 and continuing throughout the holiday season. Hours are 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Christmas Eve hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
